Female Form Study in Sepia and Crimson Splatter

£24.00

Captured in a seated, front-facing alignment with one knee raised, this original wash and ink piece isolates a complete figurative study. Clear, fluid fountain pen outlines trace the contours of the collarbones, bust, and resting arm, utilising spontaneous variations in line weight to record an unedited studio sketch directly across the page.

The chosen scheme uses a traditional watercolour technique to wash the torso in translucent sepia and warm brown layers, pooling into deeper shadows at the base. This neutral ground is contrasted by a vibrant crimson wash running down the left-hand arm alignment, while a loose, energetic patterning of fine red and brown pigment splatters is scattered across the midsection and into the left negative space.

An intense, solid grey pool anchors the very base of the silhouette to give the seated form a heavy, architectural foundation. By balancing these fluid earth tones and bright splatters against wide expanses of the textured background, the work maintains an elegant focus on structural geometry and relaxed posture.
